DANANG, VIETNAM – It seems like it’s been months since we last wrote a new blog post.
(checks date – April 29, 2020)
Yes, it has literally been months since our last new post.
Oh sure, if you look at the Facebook feed in the sidebar to the right (scroll down if you’re reading on your phone) you’ll see that we have occasionally posted a photo and short comment there. We’ve also shared various travel-related stories seen elsewhere online.
But a full-fledged post here on our own blog? Not so much.
Where does the time go?
It hasn’t been from lack of time to write. Since the whole world went into coronavirus lockdown, time is one thing most of us have by the boatload.
I suppose we could blame the gap on a lack of inspiration.
Not that we lack for things to write about. We’ve had so many wonderful experiences in our travels, and in our daily lives here in Vietnam.
We could (and probably should) write about a new experience every day.
Having so much free time these past months has allowed us to delve into the thousands of photos we’ve captured during our journeys, and to relive some of our great adventures.
It’s also made us realize we still haven’t shared many of those adventures here on our blog.
So, you may ask, what are we planning to do about this blogging slump we’ve slid into?
In looking back at our past blog posts we realized we haven’t updated our “Where we’ve been so far” page since our summer trip to the U.K. in 2017!
Still in Dublin? Not anymore
If you only saw that one page of our blog you’d think we were still languishing all this time in Dublin (which is not a bad place to languish, by the way).
In reality we’ve spent the last two and a half years in Southeast Asia, living first in Hanoi, and for almost two years now in Danang.
Far from languishing in place, we’ve found time to see much of Vietnam, from the northern highlands to the Mekong Delta and many points in between.
We’ve also ventured beyond Vietnam’s borders, spending anywhere from a long weekend to most of a month as we explored parts of Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Bhutan.
As you can see, it’s high time for us to dive into that “Where we’ve been…” page and bring it up to date.
Come along with us
As we wander through our last couple year’s adventures, we’ll post some of our archived photos and tell you about the accompanying experience.
These new posts won’t necessarily be in chronological order. We realized that was one of the things holding us back from writing.
The old mindset: How could we write a story about last week’s trip when we still hadn’t written about the one from last year?
New mindset: Chicken or egg? It doesn’t matter what happened first. Just write something.
Stay tuned…
